================================================================ 10 Top tips that we use in our home and business. ================================================================1) Use the Tong Shu (almanac) for selecting important dates like weddings, engagements, starting a new business, signing contracts, interviews, travel, installing a pond or water feature, getting married, building work. Any event that you think is important.

2) Don’t assume when something bad happens in your life that your Feng Shui has gone pear shaped, it is probably just a passing influence of the monthly changes in the flying stars. The first thing is look at our website or use our Feng Shui software and check the monthly stars, this normally explains why something has happened and more importantly what you can do about it. Do not get paranoid though, sometimes things happen because it is part of your destiny earth luck and nothing to do with the Feng Shui of the home, it could be because you are a Dog or other animal and your forecast that month was not good. Do not worry, it will pass and remember we spend 70% of our time worrying about things that never even happen.

3) This advice may sound condescending to some and if so I am sorry but don’t think by buying a three legged Toad or a pair of Mandarin ducks and placing it in your office or bedroom that you will win the lottery one day and the next day your dream date will come knocking on the door. You have to address the basics first, a clean house, garden and body and live your life as best you can. Whatever you give out in this world will come back to you tenfold good or bad. Don’t get me wrong the Toads and ducks or any other enhancer are very important but like everything in life some elbow grease has to go into achieving your dreams. These enhancers are superb but a little like having a perfect diet and plenty of exercise but smoke 60 cigarettes and drinking a bottle of whisky a day. There is no point in placing your 3-legged Toad in a place where you make space by clearing all the dust and dirt to one side.

4) The garden is often overlooked and now is a perfect time this bank holiday weekend to make sure all drains are cleared and cleaned, and I do mean lifting drain covers and cleaning out and disinfecting, this is very important and the Sha Ch’i (negative energy) from them can cause many problems. Gutters and down-pipes also hold much Sha Ch’I (negative energy) especially if they are full of dead leaves, just put your nose up close and the smell will tell all. I know this may not seem like the exciting text you would normally read in Feng Shui books but to us and the more authentic Feng Shui Master these jobs are critical for good Feng Shui.

5) It is worth spending a few hours cleaning the main door and glass, oiling hinges, polishing brass, fixing broken door furniture etc because the main door is one of the most important areas of the home, it is usually where the main Ch’i enters your home and the quality of Ch’i will be as good as the state of repair to the door. Remember the quality of the Ch’i that enters your home is governed by the quality of your main door and its surroundings. This also applies to door mats and door frames. Door mats should be kept very clean and make sure no shoes are kept by the door. Did you also know that dirty windows can make you loose 30% daylight (Sheng Ch’i) in a home?

6) When you have completed these jobs you should check to make sure all the annual cures and enhancers are set up inside your home for the year. You should have a Pi Yao in the southeast facing northwest, six Chinese coins tied in a row with red ribbon placed in the northeast and also centre of home, along with a salt water cure, you should have a crystal or ceramic items in the southwest, for further details of the 2007 cures and enhancers follow this linkhttps://www.fengshuiweb.co.uk/advice/flyingstars2007.htm

7) To activate wealth and relationships this year 2007, place quartz crystals, crystal balls or hanging faceted crystals in the southwest of your home, also place some romantic objects like Mandarin ducks or painting/statues of hugging couples etc. Store your important financial papers here like pensions, stock portfolio etc. If you use symbolic cures this is where you should place your three-legged Toad facing your Sheng Chi direction.

8) Keep a diary of changes you make in the home and garden. You can easily identify with changes that happen in your life and use it as a measure of how powerful Feng Shui can be.

9) Try and face your best direction when working, sleeping, writing etc. Everybody has 4 good and 4 bad directions. To find your good and bad directions and for more information on this follow this linkhttps://www.fengshuiweb.co.uk/advice/eightmansions.htm Of course you can also use our Feng Shui software.

10) To avoid arguments and legal problems this year avoid spending time in the northwest of your home or office. Burn a candle here with care and place something red to weaken the negative energy.

“Real difficulties can be overcome; it is only the imaginary ones that are unconquerable.”

Door mats should be kept very clean and make sure no shoes are kept by the door. I understand about door mats being kept clean, but why should shoes not be kept by the door? Great site by the way.

Hi Denise, nice to hear from you in Canada, wow, you have been a follower of this site for many years now, nice to see you still check back with us.

The reason why it is not good to keep shoes by a door especially a main entrance door is because when the door opens you want the qi (energy) to enter as clean and fresh as possible, and shoes if you think about it are very dirty and collect many germs and muck on your travels. So when you open the door the first thing the qi will find and mix with is a load of dirty old shoes and this will influence it in a negative way, this combined with a dirty doormat and the flaking paint on the door etc leads to instant bad Feng Shui before even getting by your main door.

I have been preaching this for many years (this is not the glamorous side to Feng Shui) and sometimes wonder how Jo (my wife) manages to sell anything at all on this website, as I am constantly having to say forget the three legged Toads and Mandarin Ducks, cleaning, redecorating, refurbishing your home up and de-cluttering is so powerful, you would be amazed how it changes the energy in a home. Of course the Toads and Ducks are superb for placing after you have done, had to get that in otherwise no dinner tonight.

Hope this helps Denise.

Michael

PS Many homes in SE Asia you will find a shoe box besides the main door and often expected for you to remove your shoes on entering the home for the reason I say above. I am in Singapore and Malaysia next week, i will try and get some example photos to post on here.

I love reading the tips and try to follow them. Do I follow the top ten tips even though you have consulted me at my home Michael, or do I stick to only what I was told at the time of consultation.

Thank you so much for the reply Michael. It’s always great to correspond with you. I have kept a number of your newsletter and refer to them quite often. They are still valuable in my eyes. Thanks for clarifying the thing about shoes. Duh! I should have figured it out myself. Brain still has not thawed out fully after the cold winter we had.

On another note, I know that you are not selling Ru Yi’s (hope I spelt it right) anymore. I was wondering if I can clean and move the one I bought from you a few years ago. The issue with our neighbor in the back was resolved but now we are starting to have problems with the ones on the right hand side. Would moving the Ru Yi cause the problem with the original neighbor to re-surface if I move it? Can I do it? If not, do you know where I can purchase another one? Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with me. You don’t know how much I appreciate it. I still hope to be able to study with you one day. Hey, how about coming to Canada? Have you ever been to Ottawa? Pretty nice city especially now with the Tulip Festival starting. Talk to you later and please keep me on your newsletter distribution list.

Thanks for your kind words Denise, it really is lovely to hear from you and I would love to teach in Canada again but have a very heavy schedule over the next year but I am sure it will happen soon, I will keep you informed. With regards to your Ru Yi, you should move the existing one and place it in the same way against your other neighbour; you do not need two now the other issue is resolved. Good luck.

I love your website and thank you for the blogs. It’s cool to have a hands-on with you as we in South Africa are isolated from master practitioners. Why don’t you include us in a workshop?

The company is the world’s best Fengshui Pear Chinese supplier. We are your one-stop shop for all needs. Our staff are highly-specialized and will help you find the product you need.

Hello Michael, I also want to thank you for your new blog and great websites. They are my favorites of all websites. I have a question in respect to my temple lions. Unfortunately, they fell off my window cill and broke from their wooden base, one also lost its tail. I was wondering, if I can still use my temple lions when I fix them, or if I have to replace them. I think I heard that one should not do this, but I just want to make sure since I really like them. Thank you again for this opportunity to communicate with you and for all the great free advice.

Hi Maike, It is best not to use them once broken, in Chinese culture they say the lions broke to save you from something bad happening, so look at it as good news.

Thanks for all your kind words; I really do appreciate you letting us know.

Thank you Michael for your fast reply. I will take your advice and send my Temple Lions into retirement. They obviously served me well 🙂 . Just one more question, my partner really likes these lions and fixed them, can they just serve as decoration? I somehow doubt that we can, but just want to make sure. By the way, I am also living in Ottawa right now, like Denise, and would also be excited to have you here. I will cross my fingers for it to happen soon. All the best,

Maike

Hi Michael, Just wanted to say thank you for the advice given in the past, one quick question, in each of the nine palaces, how influential is the period number in relation to the flying stars? If I have good flying star numbers i.e.1 and 6 and a center number of 3, does this weaken the good stars? Thanks

Hi Tanya,

Flew over your place the other day, actually working in South Malaysia (Kluang) at the moment, very hot and great storms. The period star is less influential although carries some influence but you need a better understanding of the five elements to know how. You should take a break from Dubai and attend one of courses. In the meantime I would concentrate on the mountain and water star (I think you are using our Feng Shui software?) and look at this link on the five elements which should help you understand better.

7 Kitchen Feng Shui Mistakes That Could Cook Up Bad ...

You work hard to shop for, prepare, and serve great meals to your family—which means cooking is stressful enough without the added layer of doing it in a room that feels a bit ominous.

We’re not saying your kitchen has a secret gremlin that’s messing with your manicotti, but why take any chances? For the happiest meals possible, consider incorporating feng shui—the Chinese philosophy of designing your environment to promote positive energy and luck—where you eat.

“Kitchen feng shui is second only to the bedroom in importance, because you nourish and nurture yourself in this space,” points out Trisha Keel, director of education at the International Feng Shui Guild.

Designing a healthy floor plan, choosing the right paint colors, and cleaning up that dang clutter can improve your juju and make this room a place of peace.

Ready to right the wrongs in your kitchen? Before you slap another sandwich on a plate, here are seven feng shui mistakes you should avoid.

1. Glass kitchen table

The problems with this kind of table are twofold, reports Kim Julen, a certified feng shui practitioner. The transparency that comes with glass tables is verboten if you’re aiming to promote good vibes—and sharp square or rectangular edges are also a no-no.

“Seeing your feet while you eat can cause digestive issues, because the food appears to be going right through you at a glass table,” Julen explains.

A rounded or oval table means no one is sitting on
