Just put down laminated flooring in kitchen and hallway of my house. I used the pad/vapor barrier. This was on plywood flooring. I LOVE the way it feels. I'm sure glad I used the padding.

On a side note, I bought some roofing felt yesterday to protect the flooring on a remodel job I started. (I use it to protect the floor while mudding because it is not slick which helps while we are on stilts.) Anyways, since I last bought felt, the price has doubled. $12 a roll for 15lb. to right at $22 a roll. WOW! I'll keep that in mind the next time I bid a job where it is needed.

I know this is kinda sidetracked...sorry. I would use the padding for the laminate flooring....It makes a world of difference.

Remember, don't loan money to kinfolks. LOL
