So that might make a bit more sense, maybe you get some "additional" configurability with such a "download". But here it is listed in the Connected Drive store and it would suggest that on some cars they do install the additional hardware (electronic damper struts) and you can "enable" them with a software upgrade. And you go from no configurability to full adaptive suspension. From a business standpoint it make sense to build the price of the adaptive suspension into the base car cost, then just charge $500 to enable it. Similar to how they handle the Drive Recorder if you already have the Park Assistant Package installed."The hardware required for this feature comes ready-installed in your vehicle when it leaves the factory, at no extra cost. REQUIREMENTS FOR USE:You will need the ConnectedDrive Store to install Adaptive M suspension. The availability of this feature depends on the hardware installed in the vehicle.
This has been discussed before, it is an upgrade to 'working' VDC. Users have then purchased Adaptive M features, if they think the features are worth it.
This is the key issue... You need the VDC hardware and then as the description states you get the Individual Sport and ECO options. This has been discussed before, it is an upgrade to 'working' VDC. Users have then purchased Adaptive M features, if they think the features are worth it.
What Is Adaptive Suspension?
Adaptive suspension adjusts the ride characteristics of a vehicle on the fly through the dampers. Adaptive dampers placed at every corner of the car use sensors to monitor road conditions and adjust the response of the suspension system from rigid to plush based on the drivers demands.
Adaptive suspension settings can be predetermined with selectable drive modes, with names like comfort, normal, off-road, sport, or race, depending on the type of vehicle.
Adaptive suspensions can also lower or raise a vehicles ride height to better aerodynamics, ground clearance, or ease of entry/exit.
