Will galvanized steel rust?

Author: Hou

Mar. 22, 2024

Will rust. It is normal for galvanized sheets to corrode and rust. Because the zinc sheets in galvanized steel sheets are impure and contain impurities, they are prone to corrosion, causing the galvanized sheets to rust. Depending on the environment in which the galvanized steel plate is placed, the reactions will be different. If the galvanized steel plate is placed outdoors for a long time, the galvanized steel plate will also rust; if it is placed indoors and kept dry, it will not stain Corrosive liquids will only prolong the rusting time for a period of time.

1. Will galvanized steel sheets rust?

1. Galvanized steel plates will rust. Depending on the environment in which the galvanized steel plates are placed, the reactions will be different. If the galvanized steel plates are placed outdoors for a long time, the galvanized steel plates will also rust. If the galvanized steel plates are left outside for a long time, they will also rust. Place the galvanized steel sheet indoors and keep it dry. Do not let the galvanized steel sheet get stained by water stains and corrosive liquids, which will prolong the rusting time of the galvanized steel sheet.

2. It is a normal phenomenon for galvanized steel sheets to corrode and rust, because galvanized steel sheets contain other impurities, such as iron, zinc and other metals, which can easily produce corrosion effects and cause galvanized sheets to rust.

3. Although galvanized steel plates have certain corrosion resistance and rust resistance, the ability of galvanized steel plates is also limited. If they are placed in harsh environments for a long time, all steel plates will rust. .

4. Galvanized steel sheets are also divided into cold-dip galvanized steel sheets and hot-dip galvanized steel sheets. Generally, cold-dip galvanized steel sheets are easier to rust, while hot-dip galvanized steel sheets are not prone to rust.

2. Why does galvanized steel plate rust?

1. The thickness of the galvanized steel sheet is uneven. The thin areas are likely to rust first, and then the thick areas will be driven, and the entire galvanized steel sheet will rust.

2. Under normal circumstances, the galvanized steel plate at home is not suitable for being placed in a humid environment. If the galvanized steel plate is placed in a humid environment for a long time, the galvanized steel plate will rust quickly.

3. Complete classification of galvanized sheets

1. Alloyed galvanized steel plate. This kind of steel plate is also made by the hot dip method, but it is heated to about 500°C immediately after coming out of the tank to form an alloy film of zinc and iron. This kind of galvanized sheet has good paint adhesion and weldability;

2. Hot-dip galvanized steel plate. The thin steel plate is immersed in a molten zinc bath, so that a layer of zinc adheres to the surface of the thin steel plate. At present, the continuous galvanizing process is mainly used for production, that is, the rolled steel plates are continuously immersed in a plating bath containing molten zinc to make galvanized steel plates.

3. Single-sided galvanized steel plate and double-sided galvanized steel plate. Single-sided galvanized steel sheet is a product that is galvanized on only one side. In terms of welding, painting, anti-rust treatment, processing, etc., it has better adaptability than double-sided galvanized sheets.

4. Electro-galvanized steel plate. This kind of galvanized steel sheet manufactured by electroplating method has good processability. However, the coating is thin and its corrosion resistance is not as good as that of hot-dip galvanized panels. In order to overcome the shortcomings of one side not being coated with zinc, there is another type of galvanized panel that is coated with a thin layer of zinc on the other side, that is, double-sided galvanized panels. .

5. Alloy and composite galvanized steel sheets. It is made of zinc and other metals such as aluminum, lead, zinc, etc., which are alloyed or even composite plated steel plates. This kind of steel plate has both excellent anti-rust properties and good painting properties.
